Public Policy Manager - Lodha Group - Mumbai

Designation: Public Policy Manager – Office of MLA, Malabar Hills: Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha 

Location: Mumbai

Experience: 3-8 yrs

Job Description:

 The Public Policy Manager for Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha [Honorable Member of Legislative Assembly, Malabar Hills (Maharashtra)], will support the honorable MLA in representing his positions to policymakers, industry associations and other groups and driving key social initiatives across Maharashtra and India . This position is based in Mumbai and will report to Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha and will be on the pay-rolls of Lodha Foundation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Research based support:

- Keep track of the Indian political environment and highlight relevant policy issues to the MLA

- Provide views on key social and political issues through research backed by data

- Support the honorable MLA in his public speeches by providing data based well researched viewpoints

- Keep track of legislation and regulatory matters in the state of Maharashtra affecting citizens and advise Office of MLA with respect to policy challenges arising at the state governmental level.

- Drive key social initiatives

- Develop strategy and implement programs to achieve goals in public policy.

- Work with relevant agencies and bodies and non-governmental organizations on issues related public policy concerns like water supply, education, health, urban planning, sanitation, disaster management, industries, land etc.

- Design and implement local stakeholder programs.

- Other work

- Represent the honorable MLA in meetings with governments and elected officials.

- Actively maintain and promote the presence of the honorable MLA in social media

Competencies (key functional/technical/leadership/behavioral skills required for this job)

- Keen understanding of the Indian political systems and institutions, outstanding judgment and persuasive skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. 


Desired Candidate Profile:

- 3 – 8 years of demonstrated experience managing legislation, clients during consulting assignment, and/or government relations and advocacy work.

- Experience in policy work for a NGO/Think tanks/MNC/Strategy Consulting preferred.

- Interest in emerging technologies and policy work.

- Proven written and oral communications skills.

- Advanced degree in related field, policy, law, sociology, business administration preferred, but not mandatory.

- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with senior officials and government representatives.

Role of Senior Consultant

A Senior Consultant is responsible for managing portions of large client projects or small client projects. preparing client-ready materials (i.e. summary reports, press releases, credentials, proposals and can quickly review and improve the work product of Consultants. Senior Consultants maintain an awareness of macro business issues impacting clients by conducting and analyzing research on a variety of client related issues. The Senior Consultant is responsible for independently coordinating client meetings and events. Completes client deliverables under the supervisor of an Associate Director or assigned account manager. The Senior Consultant is expected to demonstrate an understanding of Agency's business practices and processes, as well as strong tactical and strategic abilities. Senior Consultants possess strong written and oral communication skills and the presence of a consultant. The Senior Consultant will interface with all levels of staff and will have contact with clients regarding project issues.

EDUCATION: University degree

EXPERIENCE: 8 – 10 years relevant exp in a consulting firm, corporation, diplomatic posting or media role pref Comma Consulting, Deepak Talwar and Associates, IPAN or in-house people with exp in telecom or healthcare

Public Relations / Policy Advocacy - Mumbai

PR with 12- 15 yrs exp who has worked in an independent leadership capacity handling liaison for Large  entities in Mumbai

Should have excellent networking and contact local authorities and politicians in City  / Maharashtra Region, and Central Ministries for strong liaisoning  skills with the govt bodies and PSU utilities in Water/Electricity/Telephones /Police/Airport  or related  dept

Develop strong relationship with all concerned for easy contact, review and follow up on critical issues

 - Develop appropriate strategies to  secure timely regulatory clearances, permissions & approvals that the org requires from government , statutory authorities, external agencies, industry associations.

 - Handle matters relating to Policy advocacy with concerned authorities.

 - Conduct meetings, arrange inspections, make committee presentations and furnish explanations / details to the various statutory authorities / external agencies / dignitaries as and when required.

 - Maintain a database of all liaison related documentation; constantly monitor the same and ensure timely renewal of approvals / sanctions, where necessary.

 - Provide timely support to all Internal Departments on all approval / sanction related matters
