Lead Analyst: Statistical Modelling - WNS - Bangalore

Title: Lead Analyst: Statistical Modelling (Insurance domain:Claims/Marketing Analytics) 

Location: Bangalore

Experience: 4-7 yrs

Job Description: 

The senior statistician will demonstrate 4-7 years experience of using a variety of statistical tools and techniques. The candidate must possess hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining predictive statistical models, also should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a small team of statistical analysts. Will be required to develop and maintain detailed documentation for every activity/sub-activity and liaise with the domain lead throughout the project lifecycle.
 
Develop descriptive and predictive analytical solutions. Should have high degree of familiarity and confidence in using techniques such as customer segmentation, clustering, decision tree/CART/CHAID, logistic regression, customer lifetime value, survival analysis
 
Role & Responsibilities
  • Deliver on analytics requests mostly unsupervised; should be able to draft a project plan from an analytics brief defining what the objective/problem is and able to identify appropriate solution(s), identify all the intermediary activities to reach the end state and complete the activities within the stipulated timelines.
  • Build predictive models from start-to-finish (i.e. extract data, manipulate data, build model and validate model) and then deploy model on real data and track model performance. Recalibrate/refresh the models on regular time-intervals.
  • Periodical review of effectiveness of models to determine readiness for business use
  • Work with data team to understand the data availability and quality for analytic use, establish new data sources (with the DBA) where necessary
  • Develop/maintain ongoing relationship with the domain lead
  • Develop/maintain detailed documentation of best practices, model implementation framework and manuals for all analytical tasks/activities.
  • Deliver commentary/key insights alongside analytical output for the on-shore team/key stakeholder(s)
Desired Candidate Profile:

Masters in Statistics / Economics from premium Institute
Excellent communication skills
Must have hands-on experience in building statistical models using SAS Enterprise Miner / Enterprise Guide/ Base SAS and using data mining tools such as Teradata SQL. Experience in using R is recommended.
Basic understanding of data warehousing principles/architecture
Proficiency in data mining and statistical tools to conduct customer segmentation, clustering, decision tree/CART/CHAID, logistic regression, customer lifetime value, survival analysis
Experience in reporting analytic solutions, demonstrating good communication and presentation skills
Should be very detail oriented and committed to producing high quality results within strict deadlines
Ability to performing work with minimal supervision within a collaborative group environment
Proficient in using SAS, SAS EG, SAS EM, R, SQL, Excel, VBA and PowerPoint
