Human Resources Generalist - Dow Jones - Mumbai

Based in Mumbai, you will assist the Regional Human Resources Manager, Asia-Pacific based in Singapore, to provide a full spectrum of human resources services to Dow Jones employees in India. As a member of the global HR team, your role is also to maintain best practice of HR policies, practices and systems which help attract, retain and mobilize high quality employees, support business priorities and promote competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities include:
  • Handle targeted recruitment efforts, and assist with the hiring process where applicable.
  • Contributing to the performance of Dow Jones's business by partnering with and advising India based and regional managers to enable them to effectively lead, motivate, develop and retain their people.
  • Assist in the administration and management of local HR processes and benefits management, ensuring consistency with market practice and compliance with employment laws.
  • Update and maintain India employee information on the HR system.
  • Administer documentation for staffing, international assignment and provide relocation advice.
  • Ensure employment/offer components are in line with local and global policies and legislations.
  • Assist/manage special projects, as required, including those related to the development and implementation of global HR policies, tools and practices.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • At least 3-4 years of relevant and solid working experience as a HR generalist in sizable / multi-national companies.

  • Must possess integrity, confidentiality, discretion, excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of India employment law is required. Experience handling employee relations issues is a must.

  • Hands-on experience in recruitment, employee development planning and counseling is desirable.

  • Experience with compensation and benefits analysis and strategies, in relation to market practice is a plus.

  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, the ability to multi-task and facilitate resolution of sensitive and/or difficult employee-related issues

  • Excellent computer skills and familiar with HRIS tools such as PeopleSoft. Knowledge/experience in other HR tools such as Taleo preferred.
